Mornings

Actually, it is now after 12 o'clock noon, and Mr. Beans is absolutely insisting on coloring again today, we did this last night before supper. Don't get me wrong, I love to color with or without him. His idea of coloring is a little scribbling and then launching the crayons onto the floor or dropping the larger ones onto the table yelling bam, bam everytime they hit. All the while, we are sitting at the kitchen table with Tatertot asleep in her swing. Thankfully, she can usually sleep through just about anything: high pitch screaming which is emited from her brother at any time for any reason (guess that is why it is called the terrible twos), endless Elmo songs and the every day to day running of the house.
It is snowing again, it has been doing this pretty much everyday for at least a little bit. Well, atleast it will be a white Christmas. Tonight after my husband gets home from work, I get to escape for a little bit to do some last minute Christmas shopping all by my self. You might be thinking what a horrible mother. Well, you try to take two children shopping, even to Wal-Mart. Tatertot is still not able to sit up on her own so I have to lug the infant carrier into the store which takes up all the room in the cart and Mr.Beans has to sit in the seat, he tends to get excited about being able to walk and will stand next to me until I hear: Ready, set, go!!! and go he does. He just starts running in any direction. Ah, to be 2 again and not care about running into people (sometimes I don't care either).
This past Sunday, my sixty-something Grandmother (who is as onry(is that spelled right?)as Mr. Beans) and I took both kids out of town to shop, get a haircut for Beans and some shoes too. Everything was fine until we went to Old Navy to pick up a shirt and some cute pink sneakers for Tatertot. Mr. Beans didn't want in the cart, Tatertot was cranky ( she decided to go on a nursing strike this day and then changed her mind once I tried to give her a bottle. We got out of there and go to get Mr. Beans a hair cut, all was fine while he was playing and waiting his turn, Tatertot decided to nurse a little and then decided now was the perfect time to crap her pants. Now I don't know how well known it is that breastfed babies do not have solid eliminations, but it isn't and it is usually pretty foamy. So sue me if you think that is more info than you needed but I'm a mom this is what most of my day revolves around. So change the Tatertot and it is time for Beans to get his hair cut ( we have family pics this Sat.) Even with Elmo playing on the tv, he screams and cries, not even bubbles were helping this situation. Ahh, the power of a safety sucker. Toward the end of his haircut, which he demanded to stand for , I realize he too is dirty in the pants.
After paying for the cut, run to the car for a diaper for him , yes we are working on potty training, so no angry letters about that please. Change him all while he is screaming because I have to put him on the changing table which he hates. Time to leave and he throws another fit. My children are not ususally like this so you can imagine my embarassment. We leave there and headed to the main mall for shoes for Mr. Beans. I tried to nurse Tatertot, none doing, she was to warm and made many attempts at exposing my breast while she was supposed to be nurisng under the blanket. Fine, have the bottle, nope, only met with screams of holy terror fit for a horror movie. All the while Mr. Beans has finally calmed down and is the model of perfect behavior. We get shoes for Mr. Beans and my grandmother has taken off to do some shopping of her own and probably to get away from the terrors that my children have become on that day. Tatertot has erupted into cries of such sorrow it breaks my heart as we wait in line to pay. To put the cherry on top of my crappy Sunday the cashiers at the store( two anorexic teens with too much makeup on) say "Oh, look at her, real tears and everything" No shit, she's a real baby, what did they expect?
Pay and leave a quick as possible and try to feed the tot again. Met with more resistance. Find the grandmother while pushing a double stroller loaded with the 2 yr old two diaper bags, and purchases all while carrying the Tatertot who is pushing 20 pounds. FUN! So happy to be happy to be headed home in the dark and hit snow half way home. And this is when Tatertot decided to wake up and cry from her carseat in the backseat the rest of the way home. Back in town and drop of the Grammamma as Mr. Beans calls her at home and headed home to tell my husband all about his angels and how they acted. Now do you see why a little time away, even to Wal-Mart is coveted time alone?
And here I thought I would have nothing to write about.
