The ick has decended upon us...

So Mr. Beans has been fighting a cough and high fever on and off since last Thursday. The cough started last Thursday and the high fever started Saturday night. We're talking 103 + degree temperatures here. Super scary for me as a mom. My concern was that he didn't 1: have a seizure or any complications from the high fever(he's never had one before but still scary) 2: that I couldn't make him feel any better than seeing that he nap and try to eat 3: I had given him Motrin Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 and shortly after that he fell asleep and woke up screaming bloody murder and coughing with a wheezy/barky cough. Super Scary!! He didn't have a fever today when he woke up but I did not send him to school and then shortly after 10 am his fever started to climb again. I called our pediatrician's office and spoke to a nurse about his symptoms and she said since it was his 3rd day with a fever he should be seen. I told her I wasn't going to be able to drive him to their office today, we go out of town for our ped's visits, and that I would take him to our urgent care here in town(not the one affiliated with the local hospital).
We got right in and the nurse tried to give him some Tylenol and since it wasn't the flavor that he usually gets he gagged on it and spit it in my hand. AAHHHH the joys of motherhood! So she gave him the same kind of Motrin we use here at home and again he gagged on it and again it went in my hand. So, enough with the medicine, the doctor came in and checked his ears, no infections; listened to his lungs and said he has acute bronchittis and also checked his throat and tonsils. She thought he may have strep throat but he gagged and almost vomited when she checked his throat with the HUGE tongue depressor. She said he has some redness and swollen lymph nodes and his tonsils are a little swollen but we didn't do the strep test because she didn't think he would cooperate, I think she just didn't want to get puked on!!!
So amoxicillian twice a day for ten days. Yikes. Hopefully he will be feeling better tomorrow when he wakes up.
I work tomorrow, so he will be with my grandma all day long with his sister. I hope he is feeling better and I know he will get a nice long nap while he is there, so plenty of rest for him.
Pray for a speedy recovery for him and that Tatertot doesn't get it.
Thanks for stopping by...

Updates...

So obviously, I haven't been keeping up with my posts lately. Lots has happened since my last entry, Mr. Beans has gone back to school 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours a day. He has a new teacher, same teacher's assistant as last year and is in the same room. His new teacher has completely redone the room and now there are centers in the room. He is really excited about going to school and I don't have to fight with him to get ready for school this year.
Tatertot had her first dance class on Wed, the 3rd. She absolutely loved it!! I took many pictures and videos of her. We spent all day Sunday shopping for tab and ballet shoes. We ended up in two different towns in two different states to get her ballet shoes. I hope she appreciates all of this when she gets older. She thinks that she goes to dance everyday but it is only once a week. I can't wait to see her in her tap shoes tomorrow.
On Monday, everyone from the office went to see Katie's new baby, Emma. Too cute!! She is such a little peanut. I know Katie will make a wonderful mom.
Seeing any knew baby makes me want to have another one, even though I am absolutely happy and in love with the two kids I have.
Well, it's getting late and 3 out of 4 people in this house have colds and coughs, so it is only a matter of time until I get one. Going to read my People magazine and go to bed.
Thanks for stopping by!

All by myself...

Today was my first day all on my own. I think I did really well. Now granted, it was way slower today then it is on my regular Thursdays. I am really getting confident in my capability to do the job. I had a really great trainer, Katie, who gave me great instruction and lots of notes to refer to if needed. I am working everyday this week excluding Wednesday(closed) and Saturday(boss is taking the day off, I get it off too). My kids will be going to a friend who babysits in her home tomorrow and Friday. They have never been to anyone but family when we have needed a sitter, so it should be interesting to see how they do. Fireball will be picking them up a little after 4 and I will see them during my lunch break, so hopefully that will help them throughout the day. I just hope they will behave(not really an issue with them, but there is always a first time for everything, huh?) and get along with the other children she may have tomorrow.
Unfortunately, Mr. Beans is one of the most picky eaters you will ever have the pleasure to meet. The sitter is going to make mac n cheese and apples for lunch, but, of course, my son does not like mac n cheese. I think he may be the only child in the USA who had never ate a noodle of any kind. He HATES the way pasta feels. Won't even touch it. SO, I will be sending some cheese slices with them for him to eat.
I think I may be having a small yard sale this Saturday to get rid of some clothes, shoes and purses that I don't want anymore. I also have some odds and ends I would really like to purge from our house, too. I hope to get this all organized on my day off. Tatertot turned 3(wow, has it been that long already?) on Sunday. We went to lunch with most of the family and then dad gave both of the kids $5 to spend on whatever they wanted. So it was off to Wal-Mart for us after lunch for a small shopping spree. Yes, my children are spoiled, but what can I do? Deny their grandparents to opportunity to spoil them? What's the fun in that?
I seem to have come down with either a nasty cold, a nasty case of allergies or a fabulous allergic reaction to the old files we have been moving all day today. Or, an even more fabulous combination of all three. Either way, tomorrow I will definitely be drugging myself with an antihistamine or two.
Things here at home are running more smoothly than I thought they would. Kids are to bed earlier, it has given me time to do more writing on here. Mr. Beans will be starting school next week and Tatertot has her first dance class on the same day. Should be a nice, busy time for all of us.
Well, I think I have rambled on enough for now. Off to bed I go.

On my own

I have taken a new job and am really liking it. I have been training for the last month with Katie. She is having her first child and will then be a SAHM. Today was the last day that I had Katie to go to if I have questions about anything job related without having to bother her at home. All next week I am on my own.
Since I will be needing a sitter for the two kids on Tuesday and Friday, we are making a trip to Jocee's house to meet her and all of her other daycare kids tomorrow. Mr. Beans and Tatertot have never met Jocee so they need to do that before they go to her house for the whole day. Since they have never been in any kind of daycare, I am a little nervous about this. I know they will do just find, thinking it's like a big playdate. But the mom in me can think about them getting scared and wanting me to come get them. I don't know that I will go to see them at lunch or not; I'm afraid they might want to leave with me when I return to work from lunch.
We are gearing up for the start of the school year. Mr. Beans starts school the first week of Sept. and I am a parent rep for this school year. We have cleaning of the preschool toys this Sunday and then next Sunday is our open house. Sonya, Jaimie and I are all parent reps this year and we are responsible for all the fundraising for the 2008-2009 school year. I am really excited for the coming year and all that we have planned!
We celebrated the kids' birthdays on Sunday with a big combined party. Think Transformers meet Disney Princesses. I saved a little dough by making and decorating their cakes myself. I love to do that kind of stuff. Eventually, I am hoping to do cakes for birthdays, weddings, graduations, etc.. I was signed up for the Wilton cake classes at our local True Value but the night of the first class was the same night as the Sheryll Crowe concert and that was something I wasn't going to miss with my girls!! Anyway, back to the party: It was a family party with the kids' closest friends too. They got SO much stuff!!! Everyone bought them toys and luckily, lots of clothes too. That will help with back to school clothes shopping and keeping that bill low. It took both of our cars to get everything home. That is what we have to do at Christmas. So, needless to say, this was like Christmas in August for them. They got so many things, our house look like a toy store exploded in it.
Well, I supposed that is all for now. I am really hoping to keep up with all of this now that summer is winding down and the kids are going to bed earlier now.
Thanks for stopping by.

Frick!!

Well, where to begin??? On Friday, Tatertot had rehearsal for the wedding she was the flower girl in. The rehearsal went pretty well, the music for the recessional (is that what it's called?) is the music after the wedding on Cinderella and she is in love with Cinderella, so when the music was played for the bride and groom to be to walk back down the aisle and everyone else followed she flipped her lid. She screamed, 'I want to hear Cinderella music!' The whole day of Saturday was nothing but one set back after another. Hair appts. moved from 11 to 11:30 then we didn't actually get hair started until after 12 noon( not bodding well for the fact that pics were to be @ 1:00 pm, they happened after the wedding) Tatertot did so well getting her hair done. But, unfortunately, they charged me $64 dollars to do her hair. All the girl did was put it in a ponytail and then curl her hair. I could have probably done it just as well but I wanted her to be part of the whole wedding day experience with the bride and her bridemaids. Well, not 5 minutes after we left the salon, her hair started to fall, the curls were coming undone. I called about it and the girl told me to bring her back and they will spray it some more. Well, I didn't want to take her over there have them fix it, put her back in the carseat, back to my aunt and uncle to get ready and then back into the car to ride over to the rose garden for the wedding. So I waited and got her dressed and into the car and headed over to the salon and it was CLOSED!!! Yeah, she didn't tell me what time they were closing, the all knew the wedding was @ 3, so one would think that they would give me a heads up about closing time. Well, needless to say, her hair didn't look as great as it did when it was first done. I am going tomorrow to DEMAND atleast 1/2 my money back. They charged me the same price for a 2 yr old that they charged the bride and 2 maids and they all have way more hair than my daughter.
Sunday:
We didn't do much of anything due to Tatertot having a high fever. 102.8 degrees and today Mr. Beans has one running too. I pray that this will all be over soon. Having 2 children with over 100 degree temperatures is not any fun.
I hope to keep this more updated than I have but it is now time to go to bed.

Happy?

Well, Happy Easter to all!!! I got a new bedroom set for Easter. A four poster bed with two matching bedside tables and a HUGE dresser with mirror and light!!! So excited for that! Finally matching furniture in one room, so grown up!!! Kids really like the fact that the bed sits really high and they have to climb into it. This bed is huge: solid pine and very sturdy, the bed didn't shift around when Fireball moved in the middle of the night. Finally might be able to get more sleep.

Sh*t storms...

they are constantly brewing around here. So, Monday Fireball woke up with pinkeye and I had disgustingly goopy feeling eyes. I went to the eye doctor and thankfully it wasn't pinkeye, just an eye infection from wearing my contacts for too long instead of replacing them every month. Maybe I should take better care of myself, possible new year's resolution? Yeah, right. So, now that Mr. Beans is done with eyedrops, Fireball and I are now dropping eyedrops 3 times a day. Now Mr. Beans' cough has lasted longer than two weeks and I have to call the ped's office tomorrow to see if he needs to be seen. I called on Monday and the phone nurse said if it were to last longer than 10-14 days he needs to be seen. So I'm sure I will need to take him to the peds tomorrow!
The next day:
Well, we went to the ped's office and they believe he either has bacterial bronchitis or walking pneumonia!! Frickin' great!!
1/20/2008:
Well, Mr. Beans has been on azithromycin, an antibiotic, for 5 days now. The doctor said if he still has a cough after a week from his appt. they will need to see him again. What the hell is going on with him?
See what I mean, shit storms are always a brewing here! Hopefully, the cough will be gone by this Wed. or back to the ped's we go!!
Tatertot is doing well, except for the occasional excema flair up. She is doing well with the potty, just not consistantly. We have now resorted to bribing her with m&m's while on the potty.
This does work, but I worry that she is gonna expect m&m's everytime even after she is potty trained.
